Ive been trying to figure out how to get my layouts from Picassa to 2peas. Cant seem to get it there. This is as close as Ive been able to come. What the heck?! I feel like such a failure! J/K
I just can't seem to get this whole computer thing. I can check my email just fine. I can even post at 2peas and upload layouts....usually. Not today. I'm not really allowed to do alot on the computer because I usually end up erasing the entire thing, right down to windows and we cant even get it turned on then. I have imposed this computer ban on myself. I can only use it for things I KNOW how to do. If I dont know how to do it, I ask Mila or Kirt to figure it out and tell me how to do it. No use me trying, because we WILL end up with hno computer...again. I've killed at least three computers so far.
Anyway...here are some of my layouts. A few of them are from my MMM entry fromlast year. I have one more that I need to get a photo of and upload. It's coming later.

Tidepool
Stitching the Perfect Costume page 1

Mikey actually made almost his entire costume in Kindergarten. I just made the Breech Cloth; it took machine sewing so he wasn't ready for that. I also bought him the head dress. He did make a vest with fringe, dance bells, moccassins (sp) and a leather "knife" and sheath. This was an amazing costume and the numerous compliments made him beem with pride! He told everybody that he made it himself. Love this kid!

Welcome to my world!
Holy cow, it happend again! I heard that funny sound when I flushed the toilet this morning. It's kind of a gurgling. I told Kirt right away. He's been doubting the "sound theory" I have. I knew what was happening and told him so. The plumbing is backing up...anytime...TODAY! I was right, it happened a couple of hours later.
This might seem like a little inconvenience to some, but here in our home it's huge! You see we have this giant and I mean gigantic, humongous, ginormous, Camphor tree in our front yard. Its right on top of our sewer line. So we have tree roots in our line...often. At least when we pull the roots out from the mainline or from the pipe under the toilet, they smell really good. It could be totally stinky, but not here at our house. I should look at the bright side and think we're lucky to not have stink. Nope, don't really. Our lines back up several times a year because of that tree. If I didn't love the tree so much it would've been gone a long time ago. It is the only thing I love about our house right now. It's truly beautiful.
Last summer Kirt dug up our front yard and replaced a huge section of the main line. We took showers in the hose in the backyard most of the summer and into the early fall. It really wasn't too unpleasant because the weather was so warm. But, standing outside in the cold at 5am isn't so nice. Kirt showers then and it's a little chilly. Not so much the air temp. but the water temp from the hose. Brrrrr.
I guess we're on hose showers again for a while. Hopefully the pipes can get dug up this week and replaced. We'll probably just rent a 100' snake to try to unclog the line until the digging starts. if we can temporarily unclog the pipes with the snake at leats we'fd be able to shower and do laundry in the house. I was in the middle of a load of laundry when the shower filled with sewage. Blechhh!
The thing is, when that 100' snake runs through clear and it's actually out in the middle of the street with no clog; which has happened before, I have issues with that. Once it's out of our yard and into the middle of the street it's city property and therefore their responability. Funny thing is...my neighbor is going through the same thing and actually called the city. They said they'd send out surveyors to check his lines and if it was the city's problem they'd take care of it. Why did this never happen for us? I'm hope they find it's out in the middle of the street, they dig up our street and replace the entire thing. That wouldn't take care of the problem with our tree, but at leats it would take care of the clogs we get from the street.

A paycheck, smoothie and THE book!
Kirt has automatic deposit for his paychecks. We're both supposed to get paid on Monday, but since his is automatic it went in today!!! Yeah!
Mikey and I went to Fresh Squeeze for smoothies this morning. Tropical Acai with extra protein. Totally the best smoothie ever known to mankind! Seriously.
Stopped in at http://angelsscrapbookgarden.com and picked up my copy of Ali's new book. I love this book! I got two $25 GC's too and signed up for next Wednesdays Crop. I was given lots of raffle tickets for tomorrows raffle. I so want to win the big 7gypsies suitcase full of stuff.
Later today we're all going to see Pirates 2. can't wait. Today should be a great day.
More to come later.

Manners

When I was a little girl manners were talked about...but not much. I can't even remeber what we were expected to do. I knew what good manners were but I don't think they were enforced . On a rare occaision my dad would tell us to get our elbows off the table. That's about it. We weren't ever even told to write a thank you note! What were my parents thinking?
Oh, there was the time when I few of the parents on our swim team decided to send a bunch of us kids to Cottillion. It was NOT fun, and we just couldn't take the instructor seriously. I did learn a few things though.
As a teenager I was very aware of my manners. I didn't want to appear rude. I would read Emily Post while at the library. I would never have considered bringning something like that home though for fear of ridicule.
When my daughter was born I started setting a good example with her. She never saw me chew with my mouth open, we wrote thank you notes, returned phone calls, said please, thank you, excuse me and I'm sorry. I taught her to not interupt when someone is talking and how to greet someone when meeting them for the first time. She did pretty darn good.
When my son was born thirteen years later I was pretty experienced in the teaching of manners. He learned so fast and well...except for the interupting thing. Maybe it's because he's got Aspergers and is so impulsive. We work on it everyday. He does reach his hand out and shake when he meets someone. He even introduces us to his friends and teachers the right way. It makes my heart swell with pride when he says..." Mrs. Graham, have you met my mom; Beth? I call her Mommy. Mommy this is Mrs. Graham, my principal." Mikey doesn't really like writing thank you notes, but does anyway. He thinks his writing isn't good and would rather draw a picture or write a story... about cats.
This is a photo of Mila and Mikey at my cousin Stephanie's wedding last September. Mikey was so sweet. He walked up to Mila, held his hand out and asked; "Could I have this dance?" How could you pass that up?
