My POTD today is MJ doing homework. That's pretty much how he spends his afternoons as a 10 year old. Doing homework. *photo coming soon.
Here it is finally!
MJ and I had to go back to school today. Well, really he went back to school and I went back to work at school with him. The day wasn't really bad...until it was time for homework. I HATE homework. Seriously hate it. There I said it.
It's not even my homework, it's his. I don't like listening to the complaints. I don't like watching the messing around while he's supposed to be getting it done. I don't like how much he has every single stinking night...even during vacations. I hate it.
It actually ruined a halfway; well more than halfway, decent day. It's not like it's hard for him. He gets it. He could breeze through it quickly if it didn't seem like there was no light at the end of the tunnel. But heck, when the teacher assigns so much, I understand why he complins and messes around. I used to be the same way. If I had too much it just seemed never ending and I couldn't concentrate enough tyo get it done. But, given a managable amount it gets done.
During Christmas vacation he was assigned 143 math problems. Long math problems. That's too much to him and me. I had him do 10 a day. That's reasonable. He got it done in a short amount of time. The day he didn't do any (Christmas) he had to do 20 the next day. Too many. It took him hours. :(
I honestly don't know how any kid in his class does anything like afterschool sports or clubs. I know they do, but those kids must be up till after 10pm trying to finish their work. I know alot of the kids just don't finish and his teacher makes them sit out recess to work on it. Everyday.
Missing recess wouldn't go over well for MJ. He just spends hours upon hours complaining and working on that darn homeowrk so he can turn it in on time. No time for being a kid, just homeowrk.
I'm glad MJ doesn't struggle, but geez, I can't wait till he's in 6th grade and has less homework.
I hate homework.
